Requirements

Below you can see the requirements for obtaining a license for the first time:
The applicant must:
- Be a professional in Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or Industrial Maintenance Engineering.
- Be licensed to practice.
- Stay up to date with your obligations to the CFIA.
The applicant must:
- Pass Courses 1, 2, and 3 of the Professional Refresher Program in LPG Installations.
- Have at least 2 years of demonstrable experience in the design, installation, and maintenance of at least 5 LP gas installation projects as described in Category 1 of Article 13 of the Regulations for the Registration of Authorized LP Gas Installation Inspectors.
The applicant must:
- Having obtained the license 1.
- Pass Courses 4 and 5 of the Professional Refresher Program in LPG Installations.
- Have at least 2 years of experience conducting inspections of LPG facilities as described in Category 1 of Article 13 of the Regulations for the Registration of Authorized Inspectors of LPG Facilities, including at least 5 certified inspections for which certification and subsequent processing were approved by the Ministry of Health. Professional responsibility for the inspections subject to evaluation must have been processed with the CFIA in accordance with the guidelines established for this purpose.
- Have at least 2 years of demonstrable experience in the design, installation, and maintenance of at least 5 LPG installation projects as described in Category 2 of Article 13 of the Regulations for the Registry of Authorized LP Gas Installation Inspectors.
The applicant must:
- Having obtained the license 2.
- Pass Course 6 of the Professional Refresher Program in LPG Installations.
- Have at least 2 years of experience conducting inspections of LPG facilities as described in Category 2 of Article 13 of the Regulations for the Registration of Authorized Inspectors of LPG Facilities, and have performed at least 5 certified inspections, the certification and subsequent processing of which have been approved by the Ministry of Health.
- Have at least 2 years of demonstrable experience in the design, installation, and maintenance of LP gas systems, or have worked on at least 5 LP gas installation projects as described in Category 3 of Article 13 of the Regulations for the Registration of Authorized LP Gas Installation Inspectors.
The applicant must:
- Having obtained the license 3.
- Pass Course 7 of the Professional Refresher Program in LPG Installations.
- Have at least 3 years of experience conducting inspections of LPG facilities as described in Category 3 of Article 13 of the Regulations for the Registration of Authorized Inspectors of LPG Facilities, and have completed at least 5 certified inspections for which the certification and subsequent processing were approved by the Ministry of Health.
- Have completed, over the past 5 years, at least 3 projects—each with a minimum capacity of 12,000 gallons—involving the design, construction, or maintenance of self-consumption facilities, petrochemical plants, or LPG bottling and distribution plants.

Certification of the Professional Development Program courses required for the type of license you are applying for.
- The project number registered with the CFIA, detailing your participation and the services contracted.
- An affidavit in which the professional certifies the projects in which they have participated and states that their responsibility is not recorded in the CFIA. In such cases, they must also provide documents proving their participation. The affidavit must be notarized by an attorney.
- With regard to experience in inspection work, the applicant must submit certificates issued by the Ministry of Health for the projects they have inspected, as well as the relevant approvals from that agency.
- Any other documents that the professional considers necessary to prove their experience.
For the purposes of the Regulations Governing the Registration of Authorized Inspectors of LP Gas Facilities, the following is considered demonstrable experience:
Direct participation as a professional responsible for the design or installation of LP gas facility projects or as a professional responsible for the inspection and maintenance of the components that make up an LP gas facility.
Remember that:
- After the application is submitted, if the information is incomplete or otherwise fails to comply with the provisions of these regulations, the applicant will be granted a non-extendable period of 10 business days to correct, supplement, or clarify the issues identified. If the requirements are not met within the deadline, or are not met satisfactorily, the application will be declared inadmissible and an order will be issued to close the case.
- Submission of the application and the corresponding reports does not guarantee that the applicant will obtain the license.
- All information and requirements must be submitted in full; applications that do not comply with this requirement will not be accepted.
- All documentation must be in Spanish; otherwise, an officially certified translation must be provided.
