About Registration with the CFIA

  • Before applying for registration (permanent or regular) with the CFIA, both domestic and foreign companies must be duly registered with the Commercial Section of the Registry of Legal Entities within the National Registry of Costa Rica.
  • Every year, companies must apply for renewal of their rights, specifically in enero, regardless of the date on which their registration was approved.
  • If companies are participating as a consortium, all companies comprising the consortium must be duly registered and authorized by the CFIA.
  • If you require certifications, you must submit a request and pay the corresponding fee. This request will be processed once your registration has been approved.
  • Any company registered with this Professional Association that, as of the date of the application, is suspended due to delinquent payments and wishes to retain its seniority must meet the requirements established for that purpose. If this is not the case and the company wishes to register as a new entity, it must submit a letter signed by the company’s legal representative stating the request and must also meet the requirements established for that procedure.
