Voluntary Retirement
The application for Voluntary Retirement applies only to professionals who wish to cease practicing engineering or architecture. Members who are granted this status will be barred from practicing their profession.
Special Regulations Governing the Voluntary Withdrawal of Professional Members and the Voluntary Temporary Suspension of Firms from the Federation of Engineers and Architects
The applicant must
- Keep tuition payments up to date (payment plans are available).
- Not currently subject to disciplinary action or under investigation for ethical violations in the course of professional practice.
- Fill out the “Voluntary Withdrawal Request” form, indicating the reason.
- Please submit supporting documents for the reason you indicated on the form.
- Fill out and sign the professional information form.
- Submit a clear copy of your current ID.

Please note that:
- If the interested party does not complete the procedure in person, a letter of authorization must be attached authorizing a third party to complete the procedure on their behalf. This authorization must be notarized by an attorney.
- If the requested withdrawal is indefinite, it will take effect once the General Board of Directors has approved it and duly notified the parties concerned.
- The Executive Board will review compliance with the requirements set forth in Articles 12 and 13 of the Special Regulations Governing the Voluntary Withdrawal of Professional Members and the Voluntary Temporary Suspension of Companies from the Federated Association of Engineers and Architects; if compliance is confirmed, it will submit the request to the General Board of Directors for consideration.
- If any of the requirements are not met, the Executive Directorate will notify the applicant so that they may correct the issue within a maximum of five business days. If the deadline passes without the requirements being met, the Executive Directorate will submit a report to the General Board of Directors indicating the non-compliance, and the Board will proceed to close the application.
