About the Professional Development System
Como parte de la labor ejecutiva para la Comisión General de Actualización Profesional (CGAP), el Departamento de Formación Profesional se encarga de coordinar la evaluación de los miembros del CFIA, para verificar la actualización de sus competencias para el ejercicio profesional, en función de los criterios y procedimientos establecidos en el reglamento correspondiente.
El Sistema de Actualización Profesional es el procedimiento voluntario de evaluación, que permite determinar si un profesional de ingeniería o de arquitectura incorporado al CFIA, ha seguido un proceso válido de actualización, desarrollo y experiencia profesional, evidenciando que posee las competencias actualizadas para un ejercicio profesional pertinente en su campo de competencia.
Professional updating is general in nature and focuses on the engineering or architecture discipline in which the member being evaluated is incorporated.
Objective
Asegurar a la comunidad nacional e internacional que los miembros incorporados al CFIA, que ostenten la condición de actualización profesional, poseen las competencias profesionales actualizadas para un ejercicio profesional pertinente en el campo de su competencia.

- Before making the certification payment, we recommend that you send us all the necessary documentation so we can conduct a preliminary evaluation. This review will allow us to confirm whether you meet the necessary requirements to move forward with the process, or if any corrections need to be made to the documents you submit. Once this initial review is complete, we will inform you of the feasibility of continuing with the certification process, ensuring that your investment is not wasted.
- Once you have corrected the issues that were pointed out, you can pay the required fee and formally submit your application.
- The Department of Vocational Training forwards the application to the appropriate committee based on the field of study (CIC, CACR, CIEMI, CIT, CITEC).
- The relevant committee will have one month to issue its opinion on the application and communicate it to the Department of Vocational Training. If the committee determines that additional information is needed to make a decision, the professional will be notified so that he or she may submit it.
- Una vez que se subsane lo solicitado, el Comité respectivo traslada el acuerdo a la Comisión General de Actualización Profesional para que lo refrende.
- La Comisión General de Actualización Profesional revisa y refrenda lo emitido por el Comité respectivo. Finalmente la Comisión elevará a conocimiento de la Junta Directiva General del CFIA, para su ratificación. La Junta Directiva General emite un acuerdo, el cual determina el inicio de la certificación por los próximos 5 años de su validez.
