Considerations for Submitting Requirements

The application for enrollment must be submitted by the person to be enrolled, who must provide the original copy of a valid and legible identity card. Otherwise, the signatures and documentation must be duly authenticated and certified by a notary.

All documentation must be in Spanish; otherwise, you must provide an officially certified translation.

Incomplete applications will not be accepted.

If any of the established requirements are not properly met and do not comply with CFIA regulations, the application will not be processed and will have no legal effect.

The application must be submitted at least 60 days prior to the date on which the decision regarding temporary admission is required.

  • Before submitting the required documents to the Service Platform or Regional Office, you must send the digitally signed documents to dep.registro@cfia.cr so that the signature can be verified; the system will then generate a reference number (ticket) for you.
  • The remaining requirements that do not contain a digital signature must be submitted in person to the Service Platform or Regional Office, indicating the reference number (ticket) of the requirements sent with a national digital signature.
  • A digital signature is not a scanned signature; it is a signature accredited by the relevant institution that allows its owner to authenticate themselves and sign electronically.
