List of Requirements
To join the CFIA as a Temporary Member, you must submit the following requirements via the Services Platform:
Remember that:
- All documentation must be in Spanish; otherwise, an officially certified translation must be provided.
- If you are submitting documents authenticated abroad, they must be duly apostilled.

Once you have submitted the form,you will receive a confirmation email, which you must print, sign, and submit along with the other required documents.

Considerations
- The signature must be in original form, and the person to be added must present a valid, undamaged identification document so that the signature can be verified. Otherwise, the signature must be duly authenticated by a notary public with the notary’s signature, seal, notarial security paper, and corresponding stamps.
- The printout must not be cut off and must include all the information.
- Your registration will remain valid for two months; if you do not meet the requirements, your information will be deleted.

Once you have completed the form,you must print it out and submit it along with the other required documents.
Project Information Form for Application for Temporary Membership
A letter from the government agency, professional organization, or private entity requesting your services as a Temporary Member, signed by the contracting institution or company and the awarded company or consortium.
The note must state:
- The professional services he will provide
- How long he will stay in the country
A certified copy of the contract signed between the contracting institution or company and the awarded company or consortium.
Considerations
- The signatures must be original and must be duly authenticated by a notary public with the notary’s signature, seal, notarial security paper, and corresponding stamps, unless the person signing appears in person at the CFIA with a valid and intact identification document to complete the procedure and have their signature verified.
- If you are submitting a document authenticated abroad, it must be duly apostilled.
- A company engaged in consulting or construction in the fields of engineering and architecture that requires the registration of a temporary member must first be registered with the CFIA and authorized to operate, in accordance with the provisions of Article 52 of the Organic Law and Article 61 of the General Internal Regulations.
- If companies are participating as a consortium, all companies comprising that consortium must be registered and authorized by the CFIA.
- Details about the company or companies may be provided in the project information form requested in Requirement No. 1.
The original and a legible letter-size photocopy of the professional degree certificate for verification.
Considerations
- The photocopy must include all the information on the document, and none of it should be cut off.
- If the original document cannot be provided, photocopies must be submitted, duly certified by a notary public with the notary’s signature, seal, notary security paper, and appropriate stamps.
- The document must bear the consular seals and the seal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship, as provided for in Article 67 of the Consular Service Act No. 46 of junio 7 junio , or it must be duly apostilled in accordance with the provisions of Law 8923.
Copy of the Resume
A legible photocopy of the document certifying that your immigration status complies with Costa Rican law.
Considerations
- You must provide all pages of the document, either in a notarized form (with a signature, seal, notary paper, and stamps); or as a simple photocopy accompanied by the original for verification.
- If you are submitting a document authenticated abroad, it must be duly apostilled.
Considerations
- They must be in the same profession or a related field as the Temporary Member, be up to date with their dues for the current month or quarter, and be licensed to practice their profession.
- The professional's details may be provided in the project information form requested in Requirement No. 1.

- The amount is ¢270,000.00
- Payment is made through the pre-registration platform, exclusively by credit card.
A valid and notarized liability insurance policy covering the Temporary Member in Costa Rica, including:
- Signature
- Stamp
- Notarized document
- Doorbells
Considerations
- The policy provides coverage for any damages or losses that may be caused in the course of performing the contracted temporary activities.
- The policy must remain in effect for the entire duration of the contracted service; therefore, if it is determined that the policy has expired, the CFIA will suspend the Temporary Member.
- The policy must be in the name of the awarded company, as specified in the contract; it should be noted that the CFIA does not set the amount of the policy.
- If you are submitting a document authenticated abroad, it must be duly apostilled.
Joint report by the Temporary Member and the assigned CFIA Member, detailing the activities carried out, the experiences gained, and the transfer of technical, scientific, and technological knowledge obtained through the project.
Considerations
- The report must be submitted on the form provided by the CFIA for that purpose.
- It must be submitted at least 30 calendar days before the expiration of the term of the permit granted by the General Board of Directors.
- The CFIA may request documentary evidence demonstrating the professional consulting activities performed by the temporary member, and may verify the information provided through appropriate investigation.
- The signatures must be original and must be duly authenticated by a notary public with the notary’s signature, seal, notarial security paper, and corresponding stamps, unless the person signing appears in person at the CFIA with a valid and intact identification document to complete the procedure and have their signature verified.
- If you are submitting a document authenticated abroad, it must be duly apostilled.
