Assessment Methods

The assessment for the purposes of professional development may be conducted in the following formats:

  • For professional continuing education activities
  • Through professional development initiatives
  • In recognition of professional experience
  • By technical presentation (or demonstration)

    The Professional Development System defines the following competencies for the evaluation of program tracks:

Understand and apply engineering or architectural knowledge, methods, and techniques through best practices and existing and emerging technologies.

Apply relevant knowledge, technology, tools, and equipment in a timely manner to analyze and solve complex problems in their professional practice.

To conduct professional practice in accordance with the CFIA’s code of ethics and to engage in responsible professional conduct that ensures public safety, environmental protection, and compliance with the laws and regulations of the CFIA and the country.

Exercise leadership and oversight of activities related to their professional practice in engineering or architecture.

Master engineering or architectural topics through effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Continuously develop their skills throughout their professional career in areas related to engineering or architecture, as well as in the use of tools that update and enhance their knowledge.
