About Registration with the CFIA

The Business Regulations establish that, in order to participate in a specific background check or tender, foreign companies may request temporary registration for a specific period of time and exclusively for the purpose of participating in said check or tender.

  • If you require certifications, you must submit a request and pay the corresponding fee. This request will be processed once the temporary registration process has been approved.
  • Once the award is finalized, the company's temporary registration is automatically canceled.
  • Once the final award of the bid or tender has been notified, the successful bidder must, within 10 business days of receiving such notification, apply to the CFIA for permanent registration. To do so, the company must pay the full amount of the registration fees applicable to a company, including the payment for temporary registration, and submit the required registration documents.
  • You will be fined with the loss of your subscription if you do not meet the deadline for permanent registration.
