Considerations

  • Contact information, including physical addresses and phone numbers, must be located in Costa Rica.
  • Las firmas contenidas en el formulario deben constar en original y deben aportarse debidamente autenticadas por un notario público con su firma, sello, papel de seguridad notarial y timbres correspondientes, cuando el o los representantes legales y profesionales responsables no se presenten con su cédula de identidad vigente y en buen estado ante el CFIA para realizar el trámite y cotejar sus firmas.
  • You can complete the procedure using a national digital signature that has been properly certified by the appropriate institution; the digital certificate allows its owner to authenticate themselves and sign electronically. It is not a scanned signature.

For limited liability companies and foundations:

La certificación de personería jurídica también debe indicar el objeto social de la empresa cuya fecha de emisión debe ser menor a 15 días naturales.

For Cooperatives

In addition to the certificate of incorporation, they must provide a Certificate of Legal Entity Status for Social Organizations issued by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, which must have been issued within the last 15 calendar days.

  • The form must be properly completed and signed by representatives who are also registered as licensed professionals.

  • The information must be complete, with no cross-outs or alterations.
  • The signatures on the form must be original and must be submitted duly authenticated by a notary public with the notary’s signature, seal, notarial security paper, and corresponding stamps, if the legal representative(s) and responsible professionals do not present themselves to the CFIA with a valid and intact identity card to complete the procedure and verify their signatures.
  • If the authentication is performed abroad, the form must be submitted with a valid apostille.
  • You can complete the procedure using a national digital signature that has been properly certified by the appropriate institution; the digital certificate allows its owner to authenticate themselves and sign electronically. It is not a scanned signature.

Please note that:

  • To register licensed professionals as members, these individuals must be licensed to practice and up to date with their membership dues for the month in which the application is submitted.
  • If the application is approved, a certificate will be sent to the company's email address detailing the assigned card number and the date from which the registration is valid.
  • El trámite tarda 3 días hábiles, si todo fue aportado de conformidad con lo establecido. Sin embargo, en casos calificados puede extenderse el plazo hasta 10 días hábiles.
  • All information and requirements must be submitted in full. If any of the established requirements are not provided correctly or do not comply with CFIA regulations, the application will not be processed and will have no legal effect.
