Requirements

If you wish to keep your Professional Continuing Education Certification in Building Electrical Design (CAPDEE) valid, you must apply for renewal within six months prior to its expiration date; otherwise, upon expiration, you will be removed from the official list of professionals who hold the CAPDEE certification.

The renewal application must be addressed to the CFIA Executive Directorate; it must be submitted through the CFIA's service platforms or sent via email to formacion.profesional@cfia.cr

Below are the requirements for renewing the certification:

The applicant must:

  • Be licensed to practice.
  • Stay up to date with your obligations to the CFIA.
  • Demonstrate that you have actively participated in the design, inspection, construction supervision, construction execution responsibility (REC), and/or verification of electrical and telecommunications installations for electrical projects in buildings or production plants with transformers rated at more than 50 kVA, where the total load is at least 300 kVA, for a period of five years. Verifiable experience must be provided.
  • Demonstrate completion of 75 instructional hours over the five-year validity period of the CAPDEE through formal training courses endorsed by COMCAP, covering topics that will be announced on the CFIA website or through other channels established for this purpose by the General Board of Directors.

Remember that:

  • All information and requirements must be submitted in full; applications that do not comply with this requirement will not be accepted.
  • All documentation must be in Spanish; otherwise, an officially certified translation must be provided.
  • Submitting the application and the required supporting documents does not guarantee that the applicant will receive the Professional Refresher Certification in Building Electrical Design.
