Requirements

If you wish to maintain your Professional Continuing Education Certification in Building Electrical Design, you must apply for renewal within six months prior to its expiration date; otherwise, upon expiration, you will be removed from the official list of professionals holding the CAPDEE certification.

Renewal requests must be addressed to the CFIA Executive Directorate, submitted through the CFIA’s service platforms, or emailed to formacion.profesional@cfia.cr

Below are the requirements for renewing the certification:

The applicant must:

  • Be licensed to practice.
  • Stay up to date with your obligations to the CFIA.
  • Acreditar que ha participado activamente en labores de diseño, inspección, Dirección de Obra, Responsabilidad de la Ejecución de la Construcción (REC) y/o Verificación, de instalaciones eléctricas y de telecomunicaciones de proyectos eléctricos en edificios o plantas de producción con capacidades en transformadores mayores a 50 kVA, que la suma de la carga total, al menos sea de 300 kVA, durante cinco años. Se deberá presentar experiencia comprobada.
  • Provide proof of 75 hours of instruction over the five-year validity period of the CAPDEE in formal training courses endorsed by COMCAP, covering the topics to be announced on the CFIA website or through other channels designated for this purpose by the General Board of Directors.

Remember that:

  • All information and requirements must be submitted in full; applications that do not comply with this requirement will not be accepted.
  • All documentation must be in Spanish; otherwise, an officially certified translation must be provided.
  • Submitting the application and the required supporting documents does not guarantee that the applicant will receive the Professional Refresher Certification in Building Electrical Design.
