Submission of Requirements

The application can be sent to the email address dep.registro@cfia.cr provided that the legal representatives and professionals responsible have a national digital signature duly accredited by the corresponding institution. The digital certificate allows its owner to authenticate themselves and sign electronically. It is not a scanned signature.

If you do not have a digital signature, you can submit your application via the CFIA Services Platform.

Once completed, you must print, sign, and submit it along with the other established requirements.

Considerations

  • Contact information, including physical addresses and phone numbers, must be located in Costa Rica.
  • The signatures on the form must be original and must be submitted duly authenticated by a notary public with the notary’s signature, seal, notarial security paper, and corresponding stamps, if the legal representative(s) and responsible professionals do not present themselves at the CFIA with a valid and intact identity card to complete the procedure and verify their signatures.
  • You can complete the process using a national digital signature that has been properly certified by the relevant institution; the digital certificate allows its owner to authenticate themselves and sign electronically. It is not a scanned signature.
  • The information must be complete, with no cross-outs or alterations.

For limited liability companies and foundations:

The certificate of incorporation must also state the company's corporate purpose, and its date of issuance must be within the last 15 calendar days.

For Cooperatives

In addition to the certificate of incorporation, they must submit a Certificate of Legal Entity Status for Social Organizations issued by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, which must have been issued within the last 15 calendar days.

  • If you cancel your registration fees and subsequently submit the SME certificate issued by the MEIC, no refund will be issued.

  • If authentication is carried out abroad, the form must be duly apostilled.
  • You can complete the process using a national digital signature that has been properly certified by the relevant institution; the digital certificate allows its owner to authenticate themselves and sign electronically. It is not a scanned signature.

Please note that:

  • To register licensed professionals as members, these individuals must be licensed to practice and up to date with their membership dues for the month in which the application is submitted.
  • If the application is approved, a certificate will be sent to the company's email address detailing the assigned card number and the date from which the registration is valid.
  • The process takes three business days if all the required documents have been submitted in accordance with the regulations. However, in certain cases, the deadline may be extended to ten business days.
  • All required information and documentation must be submitted in full. If any of the specified requirements are not met correctly or do not comply with CFIA regulations, the application will not be processed and will have no legal effect.
