General Information

The Professional Development System is a voluntary evaluation procedure that determines whether an engineering or architecture professional registered with the CFIA has undergone a valid process of professional development, training, and experience, demonstrating that they possess the up-to-date skills required for professional practice in their field of expertise.

To assure the national and international community that members incorporated into the CFIA, who hold professional updating status, possess the updated professional competencies for relevant professional practice in their field of competence.

  • Apply the established criteria and procedures for professional development to CFIA members who request it.
  • Establish and maintain a set of continuing professional education, development, professional experience in professional practice, and technical presentations (or exhibitions) activities that are valid for consideration in the CFIA Professional Development System.
