Professional Practice Division
Mission
The Professional Practice Directorate (DEP) has a culture of leadership, trust, and synergy that takes an innovative, preventive, and interdisciplinary approach to civil society inquiries and develops strategies to implement professional practice regulations with the aim of ensuring that such practice is dignified, excellent, efficient, and responsible for the benefit of Costa Rican society, the protection of life, the environment, and heritage, and the proper use of resources for the sustainable progress of the country. All of the above is achieved through the creation, implementation, and verification of compliance with ethical and technical regulations, sustainable, fair, prompt, and thorough administrative processes, the incorporation of qualified personnel, and the use of reliable, integrated, and timely information.
Vision
Become a Professional Practice Directorate (DEP) that serves different stakeholders with an innovative and interdisciplinary approach and provides verification, control, and consultation on professional practice through technological platforms. It also guides CFIA members on the spot to promote decorum, excellence, efficiency, and responsibility in the services they provide and, in turn, apply all available mechanisms for alternative dispute resolution in cases where differences between parties are identified, so that only cases that put lives or the environment at risk, or where clear evidence of malicious intent can be found, are subject to fair, prompt, and thorough administrative procedures.
The Professional Practice Department has four functional areas to achieve its mission and vision.
