What are the requirements for applying to renew a driver's license or ID card?

Please note that:

  • The information must be complete, with no cross-outs or alterations.
  • The signatures on the form must be original and must be submitted duly authenticated by a notary public with the notary’s signature, seal, notarial security paper, and corresponding stamps, if the legal representative(s) and responsible professionals do not present themselves to the CFIA with a valid and intact identity card to complete the procedure and verify their signatures.
  • You can complete the procedure using a national digital signature that has been properly certified by the appropriate institution; the digital certificate allows its owner to authenticate themselves and sign electronically. It is not a scanned signature.

¿Cuánto tiempo toma el trámite?

The process takes 24 hours, provided that all required information has been submitted in accordance with the regulations.

Please note that:

  • All information and requirements must be submitted in full. If any of the established requirements are not provided correctly or do not comply with CFIA regulations, the application will not be processed and will have no legal effect.

  • La solicitud puede ser enviada por este medio siempre y cuando se cuente con firma digital nacional debidamente acreditada por la institución correspondiente, el certificado digital permite a su dueño autenticarse y firmar electrónicamente. No es una firma escaneada.
  • You can attach up to 5 files per email, each with a maximum size of 50 MB. If you need to send more than 5 files, you must create a ZIP file that does not contain any subfolders.
  • Do not change the preselection indicated: Update of ID Card or Identity Document to ensure proper documentation tracking.
